4/18-22- Spring Vacation
4/27-Landmark project due!
5/16 Environmental Day Field Trip for Gr. 2
(Raindate 5/20)
Hello,Thanks again to all of you who were able to make it to parent/teacher conferences this past Thursday night. It's a great opportunity to see how much your child has progressed from the beginning of the year. It is also a time to set goals for areas of improvement for the remainder of the year. If you were unable to make it to conferences and would like one, please call me to schedule one. Report cards were handed out at conferences or sent home. Please check the report card over and send it back to me as soon as possible so it can be used for the fourth quarter.
This was a very busy week. Everyone has worked super hard on researching his/her landmark, choosing photographs for their cover page and typing. Remember, everyone's project is due on April 27th! We will share their projects when we return from vacation.
Social Studies rotations this week focused on some of our Nation's landmarks. The children had fun creating Statue of Liberty crowns and looking at the meaning of the quotation at the base of the Statue. They then had a chance to tell why they are proud to be an American. Everyone also practiced some map skills as they learned about the location of Mount Rushmore.
Fine Arts Night was very fun! The artwork is bright and amazing! So much fun to look! I saw lots of smiling faces and I was happy to see such a great turn out. Thanks to Ms. I. She put together an amazing show once again!
Purple Pinky on Wednesday was a wonderful success. The children were excited about the purple fingers and to think that they were able to help so many other children. At an end of the day assembly everyone learned that our school raised $639! Everyone had a chance to stand up and be recognized for helping out with this fundraiser. Even the children without purple fingers.
Friday the class also saw a play put on by some talented students from MKA who preformed the Wizard of Oz. One of my all time favorites and such a classic!
You may notice that the dates for the next field trip are listed above. We will be needing a good deal of chaperones for this one so check your calendars. All the information will come home after vacation.
A new book order went home today as well. Please spend some time looking it over with your child. Book orders are a great way to get books at an affordable price. Now is the time to stock up on books for the summer.
The children also had fun creating small bunny baskets that I have filled with a few treats. Have an amazing and restful vacation with your family and Happy Easter!
